Easy hike from Teguise to Famara through a fascinating notched valley (Barranco Maramajo), with beautiful views over El Jable and the bay of Famara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We start in the former capital of the island Teguise and first walk to the old lime kilns that had an important significance for the economic development of the island in the 19th century. We pass them for approximately 1 hour slightly uphill (in total 150 height metres), on an unpaved road. Arrived at the highest point, we enjoy the wide view over El Jable, the Risco de Famara and the islands in front of Lanzarote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now we descend on a narrow path along the Risco down into the Barranco Maramajo. We follow the Barranco for a short stretch before we turn on a path above Las Laderas and have the Risco de Famara in all its splendour in front of us. This view accompanies us up to our destination above the Norwegian settlement near Caleta de Famara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Especially in the winter time, this stretch is specially attractive due to its vegetation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As always with us, this tour is full of information about flora and fauna, always in the context of the whole island. Pure Lanzarote feeling!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Terrain: 2 out of 5 – you should be able to walk stably on uneven ground.
Paths with scree and loose stones. This hike should also be possible if you are afraid of heights, but please let us know in advance if necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arrival with your own or rented car – pick up for an extra charge.
Refreshment possible afterwards – participation is optional.
You should have the following with you<\/strong>: Sun protection, sufficient water (approx. 1 l per person), snack, a light jacket – if it gets windy, photo equipment, sturdy shoes\/closed shoes
Please note:<\/strong> there is no possibility<\/strong> to buy drinks or snacks on the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note on the procedure for track walks<\/strong> (in contrary to circular walks): The meeting point is usually also the destination of the hike. After we have met at the meeting point, we leave one or two cars there. Then we drive with one or two cars to the starting point where the hike begins. At the end of the hike we reach the meeting point and take the cars parked there and then drive back to the starting point of the hike to pick up the remaining cars.
