Hike over craters

View into the caldera of “Quemada de Maguez”

We start near the small village of Guinate and climb the two volcanoes “Los Helechos” and “Quemada de Maguez” from there. A very beautiful hike with fantastic views.

The north of Lanzarote impresses not only with its special variety of endemic plants, but also with the numerous volcanic craters located on the Risco de Famara and impressive views.
We hike upwards on the “Camino Gayo” and after less than a kilometer turn off onto an unpaved path that leads us to the crater rim of “El Torre”. This is followed by the crater of the 590m high “Los Helechos”, which is one of the highest volcanoes in the north of Lanzarote.

We then climb over a saddle to the “Quemada de Maguez”, where we take a break with an impressive view of the crater that will leave a lasting impression on the participants.
This is followed by the descent to the “Degollada de Gayo” – a special viewpoint on the Risco that has a charm all of its own.
Of course, you will also receive lots of information about flora and fauna, as well as geology and history on this hike in a small, informal group.

The way back is comfortable on a wide gravel road and without any further ascents.

Due to the elevation gain and the nature of the paths, a certain level of fitness and safe walking is required. In strong winds, the walk over the narrow crater rim can be a challenge.
