We begin our hike along the lava fields of Timanfaya and learn about the historic volcanic eruptions that created this bizarre landscape in the 18th century. We cross an inconspicuous volcanic group and an impressive lava field before reaching the vineyards of Mancha Blanca. We see and understand the winegrowing on Lanzarote with all the efforts that lead to its unique quality and specialty. Further on, we come to an ancient aboriginal site. The fascinating history of the indigenous people of Lanzarote and the Canary Islands is explained. Finally, we climb up a volcano. The view from the rim into the crater and beyond leaves us in awe. On the way back, we again experience the lava landscape up close and explain further details of Canarian volcanism.
On this tour, we combine many interesting and entertaining topics relating to Lanzarote, such as history, agriculture, flora and fauna, as well as the special geology and volcanology of the Canary archipelago.
